About This Spirit from the Maker

Kiawah Blend

Icon Series

The Kiawah Blend is the fourth release in the ICON SERIES, a series of limited time, small batch blends. Each blend is different and bears its own name and symbol, inspired by something in Dixon’s life. The Kiawah Blend is a nod to Dixon’s happy place where he goes with family and friends to relax, unwind, and recharge. The Kiawah Blend’s mouthfeel is viscous and rich, moving from initial sweetness on the front of the palate, to more savory notes on the mid-palate, and finishing with a lingering peppery spice.

How We Feel About the Spirit

We have yet to sip this spirit. It currently has special status in our collection because we purchased the bottle based on it status on Whisky Advocate's list of the Top 2024 whiskies.

2XO The Kiawah Blend - #14 of 20 (Score 93)

Named for South Carolina’s Kiawah Island, a special place to blender Dixon Dedman, this has a luscious nose of gingerbread, spearmint, cigar leaf, and chai spices. The palate stays the course, introducing cola, sweet tea, raisins, maplewood, and syrupy raspberries. While the whiskey’s spiced aromas and flavors are more pronounced, apples, peaches, and fruit leather provide backbone. The finish is malty and stout-like, with roasted grains, charred oak, and dark chocolate flecked with sea salt. —Shane English

The Best Way to Pour It

The Kiawah Blend is bottled at 104 proof, offering a rich, viscous mouthfeel that moves from sweetness to savory depth and finishes with a lingering peppery spice. To experience that full arc:

Neat

This is the ideal first pour. Use a Glencairn or a small tulip glass to concentrate the aromatics.

A Drop or Two of Water

Because of the proof, a few drops can open up the caramel, toasted oak, and subtle spice notes that reviewers consistently highlight.

A Large Ice Sphere

If you prefer a chilled sip, one large cube will soften the spice without muting the complexity.
