Our Experience
His & Hers: Exploring the Acid Blondie Maduro Cigar & Bondstone Bourbon Toasted Barrel
Part I — His & Hers: Two Perspectives, One Maduro Moment
There’s something special about sitting down together with the same cigar and discovering that you’re not actually having the same experience at all — and that’s the beauty of it. The Acid Blondie Maduro became that moment for us.
Hers — Nancy Fae’s First Maduro
Before the flame ever touched the foot, I leaned in and took my time with the aroma. This was my first Maduro wrapper, and I could immediately tell it carried a deeper personality than the cigars I’ve tried before. Not quite chocolatey, but definitely roasted — richer, fuller, more grounded. I could smell the difference.
Meanwhile, I could hear Jeff making his notes, and it struck me again how nuanced he is with his flavor interpretations. I’m still learning, still building my palate, so I try not to expect too much from myself. I just let the experience unfold.
The moment I lit up and took that first draw, the sweetness from the wrapper hit instantly. The body was mellow — incredibly easy to smoke, especially for someone new like me. It left this sweet, syrupy coating on my tongue that felt almost indulgent. Honestly, it was dangerously delicious.
By the second third, it started to get a little harsher, nothing overwhelming, just a shift from the super‑mellow opening. I finished at the end of that second third, still tasting sweetness on my lips. A really good smoke. One I’d absolutely do again.
His — Jeff’s Maduro Breakdown
For Jeff, the Maduro opened with a completely different story. On the nose, he picked up earthiness, tobacco, leather, and a peppery spice layered with subtle chocolate. Where I smelled “deep,” he smelled a whole landscape.
Once lit, he immediately called it: “This is going to be a dangerous cigar.” The sweetness hit him just as strongly as it hit me — syrupy, lingering, coating the palate long after each draw. Smooth, flavorful, and persistent in the best way.
Where I felt the cigar was mellow and sweet, Jeff experienced that same sweetness but wrapped in more complexity — leather, earth, pepper, chocolate, syrup. Two perspectives, one cigar, and somehow both true.
Part II — His Pairing: Acid Blondie Maduro & Bondstone Bourbon Toasted Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
While I enjoyed the cigar on its own, Jeff took the experience a step further with a pour of Bondstone Bourbon Toasted Barrel Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey — a 90‑proof toasted‑barrel expression.
The Bourbon on Its Own
On the nose, Jeff found vanilla, honey, and fruit, especially apple. The toasted barrel influence came through as something like buttered toast with apple jelly — warm, comforting, layered.
On the palate, the bourbon was creamy and coating, echoing the same notes from the nose: honey, toasted oak, apple, and that warm, toasty character that defines a good toasted‑barrel whiskey. It finished smooth, with a jelly‑like sweetness lingering on the palate.
The Pairing Experience
Together, the pairing worked beautifully.
The syrupy sweetness of the Acid Blondie Maduro met the honey‑apple‑toast profile of the Bondstone bourbon in a way that felt intentional. The cigar’s lingering sweetness softened the bourbon’s heat, while the bourbon’s fruity, toasty notes added depth to the cigar’s syrupy profile.
Jeff described it as a pairing where both sides lift each other up — the sweetness of the cigar enhancing the bourbon, and the bourbon adding dimension to the cigar. Balanced, flavorful, and harmonious.
Part III — Closing: The Beauty of His & Hers
What I love most about these shared cigar moments is that they remind us how two people can sit side by side, experience the same thing, and walk away with completely different impressions — and that’s the magic.
His experience was layered, earthy, spicy, and analytical. Hers was sweet, mellow, exploratory, and delightfully new.
Together, they created a shared ritual — one cigar, one bourbon, two perspectives, and one memory.
And that’s exactly why we’ll keep doing this. Because every “His & Hers” moment adds another chapter to our story, one draw and one sip at a time.

Our Review
The Acid Blondie Maduro is a small-format infused cigar that delivers a surprisingly rich, sweet, and approachable experience for both new and seasoned smokers. With its dark Maduro wrapper and signature Acid infusion, it offers a sensory profile that is unmistakably bold yet remarkably smooth.
Body
The body of the Acid Blondie Maduro sits comfortably in the mellow-to-medium range. Despite the darker wrapper, it never overwhelms. The first third is especially gentle — creamy, sweet, and easygoing — making it an excellent entry point for newer smokers. As the cigar progresses into the second third, a touch of harshness emerges, but it never becomes aggressive. The overall body remains approachable, balanced, and consistent with the Blondie line’s reputation for smoothness.
Taste
Pre-Light
On the nose, the Maduro wrapper reveals earthy depth, tobacco richness, and hints of leather and pepper spice. Subtle chocolate notes hide beneath the surface, giving the cigar a warm, roasted aroma. Even without lighting, the wrapper signals that this is a step deeper than the classic Blondie.
Initial Draw
The first draw delivers an immediate burst of sweetness from the infused wrapper — syrupy, lingering, and almost dessert-like. This sweetness coats the lips and palate, creating a long-lasting finish that defines the cigar’s character.
Flavor Progression
First Third: Extremely mellow, smooth, and sweet. The syrupy coating remains the star, with the Maduro wrapper adding a richer undertone.
Second Third: The sweetness persists, but a slight harshness begins to appear. Earthy and peppery notes peek through, adding dimension without overpowering the infused profile.
Final Third: (For those who smoke it down) the sweetness continues to linger, though the cigar naturally intensifies. Even stopping at the second third leaves a lasting sweet finish on the lips.
Overall, the flavor profile is sweet-forward, aromatic, and lingering, with the Maduro wrapper adding depth without sacrificing the signature Acid smoothness.
Construction
The Acid Blondie Maduro is well-constructed for its size. The draw is easy from the start, producing ample smoke and allowing the sweetness to fully express itself. The burn line remains generally consistent, and the cigar holds up well through the first and second thirds. The wrapper stays intact, and the cigar maintains its structure even as the flavors intensify. For a small infused cigar, the craftsmanship is reliable and satisfying.
Overall Summary
The Acid Blondie Maduro is a dangerously delicious little cigar — sweet, smooth, and surprisingly deep for its size. It offers:
A mellow body perfect for beginners
A syrupy, lingering sweetness that defines the experience
A richer, earthier aroma thanks to the Maduro wrapper
Solid construction and an easy draw
Whether you’re new to cigars or simply enjoy the infused profile Acid is known for, the Blondie Maduro delivers a flavorful, approachable smoke with just enough complexity to keep things interesting. It’s a cigar you can enjoy casually, share with friends, or revisit when you want something sweet, smooth, and satisfying.
