About the Maker
Source: Cazcanes Tequila
Cazcanes is more than just a tequila—it’s a testament to heritage, craftsmanship, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. From the pristine Navichi Springs to the hands that shape every bottle, our story is rooted in reverence—for tradition, purity, and the land that shapes our spirit.
We harvest 100% organic Blue Weber Agave by hand, selecting each plant at peak sugar levels to deliver the bold, agave-forward flavor that defines Cazcanes. Once harvested, the piñas are slow-cooked and passed through our roller mill to extract their rich, natural sweetness.
Our water begins as rainfall high in the untouched peaks of the Sierra Madre Occidental. As it journeys through layers of volcanic rock, it becomes naturally filtered and mineral-rich—emerging at the Navichi Springs in Hostotipaquillo, where we source this pristine, artesian volcanic spring water for every drop of Cazcanes.
At Cazcanes, we don’t age by a clock—we age by character. Every barrel is opened, smelled, and tasted throughout the maturation process. When each barrel tells us it’s ready, we carefully select and blend them to achieve a balanced, expressive final profile. This hands-on approach ensures each aged expression reaches its full potential before it’s bottled. We age to taste, not time.

How We Feel About the Spirit
PourMore Tequila Enthusiast Spotlight: Cazcanes Tequila No. 9 Añejo
Our latest PourMore Tequila Enthusiast subscription delivery brought something I’ve been curious about for a while: Cazcanes Tequila No. 9. Known for its high‑proof punch and additive‑free craftsmanship, it promised a bold experience — and it absolutely delivered one.
This bottle is a study in contrasts: sweet on the nose, creamy on the palate, and unapologetically fiery on the finish. Here’s how it unfolded for us.
On the Nose
The first swirl in the glass is immediately inviting. There’s a sweetness that rises right away, almost like subtle brown sugar drifting out of a warm kitchen. As it opens up, I catch light florals and a soft vanilla‑caramel undertone that rounds everything out. It’s one of those noses that makes you pause for a moment — simple, sweet, and genuinely beautiful. If aroma alone could sell a bottle, this one would be an easy win.
On the Palate
The sip begins with a sweet, creamy entry that coats the mouth in a way that feels almost luxurious. That creaminess is one of the standout traits of this añejo — it settles in quickly and gives you a moment to enjoy the softer side of the spirit. But then the personality shifts. The finish brings a peppery, spicy kick that reminds you this is a higher‑proof tequila. The oak influence from aging shows up too, adding structure and a bit of dryness. Compared to some of the other tequilas in our collection, the finish here is less smooth and more assertive, with a noticeable burn that lingers at the back of the throat. It’s not unpleasant—just bold.
This is a tequila that wants you to know it’s there.
