"This is a seriously old whisky. It was in that century that Ian Macleod started the Isle of Skye from an old family recipe. This 25 Year Old really captures the dramatic landscape of the island where he lived, it’s intense, deep and so complex."

How We Feel About the Spirit
Isle of Skye 25 Year Blended Scotch Whisky — His, Hers & the Good Life
Written by Nancy Fae
Joint Introduction
There are bottles you hunt for, and then there are bottles that find you. This one found us on an ordinary wander through the aisles of our favorite Total Wine in Nashville. Jeff mentioned we had the Isle of Skye 21 Year at home, and the Spirits Manager — clearly a man who knows how to read a moment — leaned in and said, “I have a bottle you will like.”
He didn’t oversell it. He didn’t need to.
He cracked open the Isle of Skye 25 Year, and before the cork even settled back into his hand, we were already saying it: Wow… smooth. The kind of smooth that makes you forget you’re standing under fluorescent lights in a store and not in some oak-paneled room with a crackling fire and a view of the Highlands.
Into the cart it went.
And then — because life gets busy, and because some bottles deserve a little anticipation — it sat on our shelf for just over a year. Until one night when our friends Rob and Stannon came over. They appreciate good spirits, so Jeff decided it was time.
The reactions were immediate and unanimous: Amazing. Smooth. Bourbon-like warmth with an oak finish. Rob, who has a refined palate and never exaggerates, declared, “This may be my new favorite.” I had to clarify — favorite Scotch? Whiskey? Spirit? He didn’t hesitate: “Favorite spirit.”
That’s when you know a bottle is special.
Later that night, Jeff and Stannon paired it with an Isle of Skye Robusto cigar — crafted specifically to complement the whisky. And it did. Beautifully.
This is the story of that bottle, that night, and why Isle of Skye 25 Year now lives comfortably in our His, Hers & the Good Life universe.
His Take (Jeff’s Voice)
There’s something about a whisky that doesn’t try too hard. Isle of Skye 25 Year doesn’t posture, doesn’t puff its chest — it just arrives fully formed. The first sip hit me with that warm, rounded oak that reminded me of a well-aged bourbon, but with the unmistakable Scotch backbone that keeps everything grounded.
It’s deep without being heavy. Complex without being fussy. The kind of pour that makes you slow down, lean back, and appreciate the craftsmanship behind it.
When Rob said it might be his new favorite spirit, I wasn’t surprised. This whisky has that rare quality where every sip feels like the right one. No burn, no bite — just a long, elegant glide across the palate.
And pairing it with the Isle of Skye Robusto cigar? That was a moment. The cigar’s gentle spice and creamy smoke wrapped around the whisky’s oak and fruit notes like they were made for each other — which, of course, they were.
This bottle is a quiet flex. And I’m here for it.
Her Take (Nancy Fae’s Voice)
I’m a sucker for a beautiful bottle, and this one checks every box. Tall, elegant, understated — like the kind of Scotch you’d expect to find in a private library with leather-bound books and soft lamplight. It looks like heritage. It looks like patience. It looks like something you open only when the company is right.
But the real magic is in the pour.
The Isle of Skye 25 Year has that velvety, almost confectionary nose — soft vanilla, warm wood, a whisper of spice — that makes you close your eyes for a moment before you even taste it. And when you do, it’s rounded, fruity, and impossibly smooth. A wisp of peat smoke, just enough to remind you where it came from.
I love a whisky that feels like a story, and this one does. It’s dramatic without being loud, refined without being aloof. It’s the kind of spirit that makes everyone at the table pause mid-conversation and say, “Oh… wow.”
And yes, I absolutely loved watching Rob fall in love with it in real time.
Pairing with Isle of Skye Cigar
The Isle of Skye Robusto cigar (Total Wine’s pairing release) is built for harmony, not competition. Medium-bodied, with notes of cedar, gentle spice, and a creamy draw, it complements the whisky’s oak-forward warmth and subtle fruit beautifully.
Here’s what makes the pairing sing:
The cigar’s cedar and spice echo the whisky’s warm wood and ginger notes.
Its creamy smoke softens and rounds the whisky’s dry finish.
The medium body ensures the cigar never overwhelms the delicate layers of the 25 Year.
A shared Highland sensibility—both crafted to be enjoyed together—creates a seamless flavor arc from first puff to final sip.
Jeff and Stannon called it “perfect.” I call it “intentional craftsmanship.”

Joint Closing — His, Hers & the Good Life
His (Jeff’s Voice)
This bottle is the definition of quiet excellence. No flash, no gimmicks — just depth, smoothness, and character. It’s the kind of whisky you open with people who appreciate the good stuff.
Hers (Nancy Fae’s Voice)
For me, it’s the elegance. The bottle, the pour, the experience—it all feels curated, intentional, and beautifully balanced. It’s a spirit that elevates the room simply by being in it.
The Good Life
The Isle of Skye 25 Year fits our the Good Life because it embodies everything we love: shared discovery, craftsmanship, meaningful moments, and the joy of savoring something truly exceptional with people who matter.

How to Enjoy
Neat — The best way to appreciate its layered oak, fruit, and gentle peat.
With a single ice sphere — Softens the spice and highlights the vanilla and apple notes.
With a drop or two of water — Opens the nose and reveals more of the malt and citrus.
Paired with the Isle of Skye Robusto cigar — A curated experience that feels almost ceremonial.
Slowly — This is not a rushed pour. Let it unfold.
