Introduction
There’s something about a long‑anticipated dinner that feels like opening night. For months, our good friends Dean and Stacie Della Pella had been singing praises about Nick’s Ristorante — steaks worth the drive, a bar/cigar lounge with personality, and entertainment that hits you right in the nostalgia. Stacie’s enthusiasm alone could’ve sold tickets.
So, after juggling schedules and accepting the reality that Bailey Cove isn’t exactly “on the way,” we finally made reservations. And after what felt like a pilgrimage across South Huntsville, we arrived — hungry, curious, and ready to see whether Nick’s lived up to its reputation.

How the Night Unfolded
Stepping inside Nick’s is like stepping through a portal into a classic steakhouse era — warm lighting, red walls, dark wood, wrought iron accents, and a vibe that whispers, “Sinatra might still be holding court in the corner.” Dean and Stacie mentioned that many of the staff have been there for years, and it shows. The service was warm, attentive, and comfortably familiar.
We kicked off the evening with cocktails. Jeff ordered his Old Fashioned, while I ventured into the New York Sour — rye bourbon, lemon juice, egg white, and a red wine float. The layers were gorgeous, and the taste matched the presentation. A small victory for choosing something new.

And in true “we saved our appetites all day” fashion, we forgot to take pictures. Rookie mistake. But trust us; they were delicious.
Entrées arrived with fanfare. Jeff chose the New York Strip 14 oz, a classic steak lover’s choice. I ordered the Chicken Parmesan with a Caprese salad. Jeff’s steak was everything Stacie promised. My chicken was good — but ordering chicken at a steakhouse? I’ll own that misstep. I spent half the meal eyeing Jeff’s plate like a raccoon in a dumpster.

We skipped dessert, not out of discipline but out of necessity. We wanted room for drinks at the bar/cigar lounge.
The lounge felt like a neighborhood living room — regulars, laughter, clinking glasses, and a solo guitarist performing. His rendition of Creep by Radiohead was unexpectedly moving, the kind of performance that makes you pause mid‑sip.
Before settling in, we donated three Rocky Patel Catch 22 cigars to Nick’s Cigar Stash, a program supporting deployed troops with cigars and care packages. After 44 years in the Army, Nick continues to take care of service members, and it’s impossible not to admire that.
We finished the night with Nub Double Maduro 460 Gordo cigars — good, not great, but enjoyable enough for conversation and people‑watching.
Overall? Nick’s delivered a memorable evening — great steak, warm atmosphere, and a cigar lounge that adds a unique twist. The drive keeps it from being our top steak choice, but the experience (and the company) made it worth the trip.

Closing in the His, Hers & the Good Life Style

Nick’s has that classic steakhouse feel that makes you settle in and enjoy the night. The steak was solid, the atmosphere warm, and the cigar lounge had a comfortable, lived‑in charm. The drive was long, but the evening itself made up for it.

I loved the elegance of the restaurant, the nostalgia of the décor, and the warmth of the staff. My cocktail was a highlight, and while I regret ordering chicken at a steakhouse, the experience itself was lovely. The music in the lounge was the perfect ending note.
The Good Life
Evenings like this remind us that the Good Life isn’t about perfection. It’s about good friends, good food, shared laughter, and discovering places that surprise you. Nick’s Ristorante gave us all of that, wrapped in old‑school charm and a heartfelt mission supporting our troops. That’s the kind of story we love adding to our Good Life.
