Every now and then, a bottle comes into our home with a story already attached to it. Our bottle of Novo Fogo Silver Cachaça arrived exactly that way—on the enthusiastic recommendation of a dear friend who was determined to introduce us to Brazil’s national cocktail, the Caipirinha.
He had been talking about this drink for weeks. “You haven’t lived until you’ve had a proper Caipirinha,” he insisted. So, naturally, we made our way to our trusted Total Wine in Nashville and picked up a bottle of Novo Fogo Silver, feeling quite pleased with ourselves for being such excellent students of cocktail culture.
Before he came over to mix the drinks, our friend gave us one very specific instruction:
“Do not taste it yet.”
Simple enough, right?
Well… not for my husband.
