Long ago, the sea shaped Oban’s "Little Bay of Caves". Brave ships brought stone and slate to build our distillery and its guardian town. Sheltered from the Western seas, they sent their riches ashore and carried our whisky to the world.
In those days, a sleepy old seafarers town nestled on the River Douro in Portugal, near where it meets the ocean. Now vibrant, Porto still lends its name to the famous wine, which for centuries has travelled the world on ships that defy the wild Atlantic.
Their sea-facing stories entwine in this US-Exclusive 15-year-old Oban release. Using time-honed methods true to our small-still tradition, our seven-strong family of distillers first matured this single malt scotch whisky in refill American Oak Hogsheads, before it was finished in the rich, deep sweetness of selected American Oak Ruby Port casks.
The result is a Single Malt Scotch Whisky that ships your senses from a busy harbour to the distant mouth of the River Douro. The distinctive notes of salty spiciness in Oban enjoy a creamy-smooth lift as summery, honey-sweet hints of juicy red fruit evoke a moment enjoying raspberry ripple ice cream on a sunny beach.

Initially matured for 15 years in American oak hogsheads before being finished in American Oak Port casks, this whisky explores how fortified wine casks complement Oban's signature coastal style. The Port cask finish enhances the whisky with layers of juicy red fruit and gentle sweetness while preserving the balanced maritime character that has made Oban one of Scotland's most beloved coastal single malts.

Introduction
Some bottles arrive with a story already humming beneath the cork, and our July 2026 PourMore Enthusiast Club selection — Oban 15 Year Port Cask Finish — came ashore with a full symphony. Oban was one of Jeff’s earliest Scotch loves, and while I’m still learning my way through the whisky world, I’ve come to trust that anything carrying the Oban name is worth slowing down for.
This US-exclusive release marries Oban’s coastal character with ruby port sweetness — raspberries, honeyed fruit, and that unmistakable sea breeze that feels like a memory even if you’ve never been there. We tasted it blind alongside whiskies from around the world, and even with my beginner’s palate, this one stood out. Cherry, raspberry, vanilla ice cream, ocean air — I didn’t know whisky could do all that, but here we are.
This bottle isn’t just a whisky. It’s a journey — from Oban’s “Little Bay of Caves” to the mouth of the Douro — and now, into our Good Life collection.
His Take (Jeff)
I love when a whisky surprises me without trying too hard. Oban usually leans into that salty, lightly smoky coastal profile, but this one brings a red-fruit sweetness that hits like a warm breeze off the water. On the nose, I caught cherry and caramel right away — almost like someone dropped a cherry cough drop into a bowl of Fruit Loops. The palate sealed the deal: raspberry, vanilla ice cream, and just enough ocean salinity to remind me it’s still Oban at heart.
This is the kind of bottle I’d pour at the end of a long day, when I want something familiar but elevated. It’s a winner.

I’m still learning how to pick out whisky notes — half the fun is discovering what my senses notice next — and this bottle made the experience feel effortless. On the nose, I found cherry, apples, fruity candy, and that slight medicinal note that Jeff says is “just Scotch being Scotch.” I’m beginning to understand what he means.
The palate was where everything clicked for me. Raspberry, honeyed fruit, vanilla ice cream, and a whisper of ocean air — flavors I recognized and could name without second-guessing myself. The port finish didn’t overwhelm the whisky; instead, it gave me something familiar to hold onto while I explored the rest.
