Redbreast Missouri Oak Edition, the latest addition to Redbreast’s esteemed American Oak series, seamlessly blends the signature Redbreast single pot still whiskey profile, aged in sherry and ex-bourbon barrels, with the unique and distinctive influence of Missouri Oak. The whiskey was meticulously finished for ten months in Virgin Missouri Oak barrels, the oak sourced from the esteemed Ozark Forest, to bring a captivating twist to the renowned Redbreast liquid.

TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Generous waves of sweet toffee apple and vanilla at first, closely followed by ripe blackcurrants and black cherries. The American oak enhances the pot still spices with additional notes of cinnamon and ground ginger, while nutty undertones akin to pecan pie linger gently in the background.
TASTE
Rich with oak tannins that slowly subside, giving way to the luscious and creamy texture of this wonderfully balanced pot still whiskey. The sweetness continues to build in tandem with spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, and black peppercorns along with rich berry fruits and vanilla cream.
FINISH
Satisfyingly long, with the nuttiness and pot still spices lingering for a time before finally yielding to the oak.

To celebrate the new launch, Redbreast, known as a champion for bird preservation, has sponsored a research study into the magnificent Cerulean Warblers that breed in the Ozark Forest, with the songbird gracing the packaging of the new expression in homage. In partnership with Dr. Jeff Larkin, professor of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Redbreast aims to highlight how North American oak woodlands are essential for the Cerulean Warbler and to refine forest management guidelines to better protect and enhance the birds’ habitat.

This is Redbreast’s traditional single pot still whiskey, aged in sherry and bourbon casks but then finished for 10 months in virgin casks made of oak from the Ozarks. This second release in the American Oak series follows Kentucky Oak from 2022, and has a nose of honey, red apple, stone fruits, wood spices, sweet cinnamon, and cocoa powder. Honey, oak, red apple, and Oreo cookies spar with baking spices, black tea, and cinnamon bark, leaving a thrilling finish of taut, unflinching oak spices.

Introduction
The inaugural year of our Sipping Room has been a joyful, slightly chaotic treasure hunt — nineteen bottles collected from Whisky Advocate’s Top 20 of 2024, each one a story, a memory, a moment. Some bottles required patience. Some required luck. And then there were the ones that felt like they simply wanted to be found.
Redbreast Missouri Oak Edition — #16 on the list, scored a confident 93, standing tall at 50.5% ABV — was one of those serendipitous finds. I was traveling for work, juggling client meetings and carry-on luggage, when I checked the Total Wine near my client in Maryland. There it was, sitting online like it had been waiting for me. A few clicks, a quick pickup, and suddenly our Sipping Room had its Irish Single Pot Still representative.
We haven’t opened it yet. That’s part of the fun — anticipation, curiosity, the promise of a blind tasting alongside other Irish whiskeys to see what makes this one worthy of its #16 ranking. But the bottle already carries a story, and in our world, that’s half the magic.

There’s something satisfying about a bottle that doesn’t make you work too hard to bring it home. When Nancy Fae told me she snagged this one during a work trip — online order, quick pickup, no drama — I laughed. After chasing down some of the Top 20 bottles like they were rare artifacts, this felt refreshingly normal.
The Missouri Oak angle intrigues me. Irish whiskey already has a softness I enjoy, but finishing it in American oak from Missouri? That’s a twist I’m eager to explore. I’m curious how that wood influence will show up in a blind tasting — whether it leans into sweetness, spice, or something unexpected. For now, it’s sitting proudly in the Sipping Room lineup, waiting for its moment.

This bottle feels like a little wink from the universe. I was in Maryland, thinking about my client meeting, not whiskey hunting. But when you’re in the inaugural year of the Sipping Room, you keep one eye open — just in case. And there it was: Redbreast Missouri Oak Edition, available for pickup, practically waving at me.
I love the story behind it. The blend of Irish tradition and Missouri oak, the confidence of a 93 score, the boldness of 50.5% ABV. It feels like a whiskey with personality. I’m excited to taste it blind, to see if I can pick out the oak influence or the signature Redbreast richness. But even before the cork is pulled, this bottle already feels like part of our Good Life tapestry.
