Joint Introduction
Our January 2025 PourMore Explorer Whiskey of the Month Club installment arrived with quiet confidence. No enclosure. No tasting notes. No story. Just a striking bottle resting in the box — tall, ridged, sculptural — the kind of bottle that makes you pause before you even reach for the cork.
We had purchased a Short Barrel from PourMore earlier, but this was our first official Whiskey of the Month Club delivery. And with no information included, we went into the tasting almost completely blind.
Only later did we learn that SirDavis is Beyoncé Knowles-Carter’s American rye whisky, crafted with Moët Hennessy and Dr. Bill Lumsden. PourMore eventually sent the intended enclosure, but by then the bottle had already spoken for itself — and as you’ll see from Jeff’s review below, it made quite the impression.
The bottle photo we’ve included here captures exactly what we saw that day: a modern, elegant, almost architectural piece of glassware that feels as intentional as the spirit inside.

Tasting SirDavis blind was a gift. No expectations, no celebrity influence, no preconceived hype — just the whiskey itself.
The nose was the first surprise: layered, expressive, and beautifully balanced. Malt, cherry, citrus, raisins, cinnamon, rye spice, fresh wood, chocolate, honey… it was a full sensory welcome. I gave it a perfect 5 on the nose because it earned it.
The palate followed with quiet sophistication. Creamy, balanced, subtly sweet, and thoughtfully composed. Nothing loud, nothing flashy — just a rye that knows exactly what it wants to be. I rated the palate a 4, and the finish matched it with a long, pleasant fade of vanilla that lingered just right.
Uniqueness? A 3. Value? Also a 3. Overall? A strong 4 — and a bottle I’d happily revisit.

SirDavis is visually stunning. The tall ridged glass, the faceted stopper, the minimalist labeling, the gold horse emblem — it’s modern, elegant, and quietly dramatic. It looks like something designed for a curated bar cart or a moody Sipping Room shelf, where the lighting catches the amber liquid just right.
Even without knowing the story behind it, the bottle feels premium and intentional. Once I learned it was Beyoncé’s spirit, everything made sense — the sophistication, the restraint, the artistry. It’s a bottle that feels as good to look at as it does to pour.
