About This Spirit from the Maker
Our new Straight Bourbon, affectionately known as “The Musician”, is made from 100% Texas-grown corn, rye and malted barley. It’s the distillation of all we are, and of all that has created us—an expression of true Texas terroir. Like our home city, this bourbon is inclusive and original. It took a combination of Southside pluck, oak-aged patience, slow-water reduction, and good old-fashioned ingenuity to bring this spirit to life—along with the help of one very special 42-foot tall woman, “Nancy,” our one-of-a-kind Scottish-made still. For us, this whiskey represents so much that is good in this world. It’s inspiration and togetherness, community, and creativity. But most of all, it’s delicious.

How We Feel About the Spirit
Like an up-and-coming artist still finding their sound, The Musician is a bourbon that plays with depth but keeps its energy raw. Its light amber color hints at its youthful vibrancy, setting up an experience that starts bold and gradually reveals its layers.
On the nose, it’s rich and pleasing, with notes of cherry, vanilla, and chocolate weaving through classic corn and grain undertones. A woody, oaky presence gives structure, while cinnamon, coffee, honey, and pralines add intrigue. There’s no harshness or singe, making it an inviting opening act.
The first sip hits with burn, demanding water to smooth out the edges and unlock its flavors. Beneath the heat, vanilla, creamy texture, and a thick, oily richness take center stage, accented by spices like cinnamon and black pepper. It’s not particularly sweet, and while the profile leans basic and dry, it works exceptionally well as a mixing bourbon, adding a bold backbone to cocktails.
At $43 a bottle, Still Austin’s The Musician is a bourbon with a youthful spirit, a bit rough around the edges, yet undeniably intriguing. While it’s not the most complex pour, it carries a creamy texture and subtle nuances that make it worth exploring—especially if you let it play alongside the right ingredients.
