America 250: Angel Cuesta & CAO Anniversary Cigars — A His, Hers & The Good Life Review
—Written by Nancy Fae
Joint Introduction
There’s a certain kind of thrill in walking into The Cigar Room in Madison, Alabama with purpose—and today, that purpose was patriotic. With America’s 250th birthday on the horizon, I wanted cigars that weren’t just celebratory, but symbolic. True American Puros: grown, crafted, rolled, and finished entirely in the United States. Donald, the owner, helped me pick out two Angel Cuesta 250th Shade cigars by J.C. Newman and two CAO America 250th Anniversary cigars—each one a little piece of American craftsmanship ready for a moment worth savoring.

About the Cigars
Angel Cuesta 250th Shade by J.C. Newman
We’re told to expect a refined, elegant smoke—creamy Connecticut shade wrapper, American-grown, paired with a blend that leans smooth and classic. Notes of toasted almond, soft vanilla, and gentle cedar are said to shine through. The band feels like a commemorative medallion, the kind you almost hesitate to disturb. This cigar is meant to be savored slowly, intentionally, and with a little reverence.

CAO America 250th Anniversary
We’re told to expect boldness wrapped in patriotism. The dual-wrapper design promises contrast and depth, with flavors of dark chocolate, molasses, and a touch of spice. It’s the kind of cigar that announces itself — rich, confident, and unmistakably American. A celebration stick through and through, crafted for moments that deserve a little extra ceremony.

🔥 His Take — Jeff
There’s something about American Puros that feels intentional — like every leaf is part of a bigger story. The Angel Cuesta 250th Shade hits that classic lane I love: smooth draw, balanced profile, and a band that looks like it belongs in a collector’s box.
The CAO America? That’s the one you light when you’re ready to settle in. Rich, layered, and proudly patriotic. I’m already thinking about pairings — probably bourbon, maybe something with a rye finish. These cigars feel like they were made for a holiday evening on the porch.
💁♀️ Her Take — Nancy Fae
I really appreciated Donald’s help selecting these cigars. Personal service makes all the difference, especially when you’re choosing something meant for a special day. I picked these out with the Fourth of July in mind — something Jeff and I could enjoy together. But now that I have them… I’m torn. I want to smoke them with him, absolutely. But I also want to save them. They feel too special to rush. Maybe we’ll light one. Maybe we’ll keep one. Maybe that’s the beauty of it. I don’t have to decide just yet.

Joint Closing — His, Hers & The Good Life
His:
A good cigar is about craftsmanship. A great cigar is about the moment you choose to light it. These American Puros feel like they were made for a memory.
Her:
Whether we smoke them now or save them for later, they already feel like part of our story — picked with care, held with intention, and tied to a celebration bigger than both of us.
The Good Life:
Good cigars. Good company. Good moments worth slowing down for. Here’s to America’s 250th — and to the simple joys that make life rich.
