His, Hers & the Good Life: An Evening at the Whisky Library
Joint Introduction
Some of the best chapters in life aren’t planned — they’re stumbled into. After a long day of exploring Manila and settling into the Marriott at Newport World Resorts, the three of us — Jeff, Ashley, and I — were winding down, ready to retreat to our room. But then we saw it: a warm glow, a towering wall of bottles, and a lounge that looked like it belonged in a cinematic whisky dream.
The Whisky Library.
For a family slowly building a Sipping Room collection back home, finding this gem felt like the universe nudging us inside. Tired as we were, we couldn’t resist. And once we crossed the threshold, the night took on a second wind — rich, cozy, and unexpectedly memorable.

His Take
The Whisky Library hit me immediately — leather chairs you sink into, shelves rising to the mezzanine, and a bar lined with spirits from every corner of the world. But what really caught my attention wasn’t neat whisky pours this time. It was the whisky Cocktail Paddle.
Six glasses arranged on a wooden board — three recipes, two glasses each. No trading, no sharing sips back and forth. Just a perfectly designed tasting experience for two. I had my set of three; Nancy Fae had hers. Fruity, tart, smoky — each recipe had its own personality, and tasting them side‑by‑side made the whole experience feel intentional and fun.
Meanwhile, Ashley sat with her purple drink — a vibrant cocktail made with ube liqueur. Ube, the beloved Filipino purple yam used in cakes, ice creams, and all kinds of desserts, gave her drink a sweet, creamy, unmistakably local flavor. She loved it, and honestly, it looked incredible.
Sitting there with my girls, sipping through the Cocktail Paddle, surrounded by craftsmanship and atmosphere, I felt that familiar Sipping Room spark. This wasn’t just a bar. It was inspiration.
Her Take
The moment I stepped inside, I felt wrapped in warmth — amber lighting, polished wood, soft leather, and shelves that stretched upward like a cathedral of spirits. It was the kind of place that invites you to slow down, breathe, and savor.
The Cocktail Paddle was such a clever idea: three recipes, two glasses each, perfectly portioned for sharing without swapping. I loved having my own set — fruity brightness in one glass, tart edges in another, smoky depth in the third. Each one felt like its own little story, and tasting them alongside Jeff made the experience feel playful and connected.
Ashley, meanwhile, was glowing with her purple ube cocktail. There’s something magical about ube — that creamy, sweet, dessert‑like flavor that’s so distinctly Filipino. Watching her enjoy something so rooted in the local culture made the moment feel even more special.
The room itself was a mood: copper lamps casting soft halos, shelves lined with bottles like treasured books, and the quiet hum of people enjoying their own stories. It felt like a place designed for people who appreciate the art of lingering.
Joint Closing — His, Hers & the Good Life
In the end, the Whisky Library wasn’t just a bar we found — it was a moment we didn’t know we needed. We walked in exhausted and walked out restored, carrying with us the glow of shared drinks, shared laughter, and a setting that felt tailor‑made for people who savor life one sip at a time.
Here’s to unexpected finds, purple cocktails, shared paddles, and the stories that pour themselves when you least expect them. That’s His, Hers & the Good Life.
