How We Feel About the Spirit
Clase Azul Tequila Reposado — A His & Hers Moment in Our Sipping Room Story
By Nancy Fae
From the very beginning of building our Sipping Room collection, there were a few bottles we knew — deep in our bones — would eventually find their place on our shelves. A Clase Azul tequila was one of them. You can’t miss those decanters. They don’t just sit on a shelf; they stand there, tall and elegant, like they know they’re the showstopper in any room they enter.
So on a sunny Nashville afternoon, we wandered into Total Wine with a mission: find the Clase Azul Tequila Reposado, the most iconic of their hand-painted decanters. The one everyone recognizes. The one that feels like a rite of passage for any collector.
And there it was — glowing under the store lights like it had been waiting for us.
But then came the twist. Our beloved Sipping Room shelves, curated with such care, had one small limitation: height. The 750 ml bottle—the size we normally buy—was simply too tall. Comically too tall. We held it up to an imaginary shelf line in the air, both of us sighing in unison.
So we pivoted.
We brought home the 375 ml bottle instead. Still beautiful. Still unmistakably Clase Azul. But yes… our hearts dipped just a little. It felt like ordering the entrée you wanted, only to discover the kitchen was out and you had to settle for the “petite” version. Gorgeous, but not the grand statement piece we envisioned.
Still, this bottle has presence. Even in its smaller size, it radiates the artistry and craftsmanship Clase Azul is known for. And while we haven’t opened this particular bottle yet, we’ve tasted the Reposado in guided tastings—and it left an impression worth sharing.
Tasting Notes (From Past Tastings)
Nose
Warm vanilla rises first, soft and inviting, followed by gentle cooked agave. There’s a sweetness that feels almost dessert-like—creamy, rounded, with a whisper of spice tucked underneath.
Palate
Silky. That’s the word that always comes to mind. The oak influence shows up in a mellow, buttery way, carrying notes of caramel, soft spice, and a touch of citrus brightness. It’s the kind of sip that makes you slow down without even realizing it.
Finish
Long, warm, and comforting. The sweetness lingers, but so does a subtle peppery glow—just enough to remind you that this is still tequila with a backbone.
His & Hers Closing
Her: “It may be the smaller bottle, but it still feels like a piece of art in our collection.”
Him: “And when we finally open it, we’ll make a night of it—no rushing, no distractions.”
Us: Building a good life isn’t about the size of the bottle. It’s about the moments you create around it.

How This Bottle Should Be Enjoyed
Clase Azul Tequila Reposado shines when you give it space to speak for itself. This is a spirit meant to be savored, not rushed.
Start neat. A proper glass—Glencairn or a small snifter—lets the aromas bloom. Take your time with the nose; it’s one of the most rewarding parts of the experience.
Sip slowly. Let the warmth roll in. Let the sweetness settle. Let the oak and agave dance a little.
Optional: A single drop of water can soften the sweetness and open up the spice.A single large ice sphere will cool it without muting the flavors too quickly.
This is a bottle best enjoyed on a quiet evening, with soft lighting, good conversation, and a moment of gratitude for the craftsmanship in your hands. It’s not just tequila—it’s a ritual waiting to happen.
