About the Cocktail

The Dirty Martini has always been a polarizing classic — salty, briny, and boldly savory. Long before our August 2026 Ledges Mixology “Barrel & Glass” Class, we already knew this cocktail wasn’t in our usual rotation. But we walked into the event determined to give it a fair chance, open minds and open shakers ready to learn something new. Joey introduced the drink with his signature enthusiasm, reminding us that even familiar cocktails can surprise you when made with intention.

His Take:

Jeff knew going in that Dirty Martinis weren’t his thing, and the class didn’t change that. The olive brine was still too salty for his taste, even with a dash of Tabasco to soften the edges. He said it’s not a drink he’d ever order, but he appreciated the craft behind it.

Her Take:

I’ve never been a Dirty Martini girl, but I promised myself I’d approach it with curiosity. The verdict stayed the same. I’m firmly in the sweet cocktail camp. Still, learning that serving an even number of olives is a faux pas was a fun little gem that made the experience worthwhile.

The Good Life:

Even when a cocktail isn’t “our” cocktail, the joy comes from trying it together, laughing through the briny boldness, and picking up new tidbits along the way. That spirit of exploration is exactly what the Good Life is made of.
