About the Cocktail
When our April PourMore box arrived with the bottle of Barrell Bourbon 12 Year Finished in French Oak Casks, it came with a little surprise tucked inside — a recipe for the French Oak Bloom. The name alone feels poetic, and the drink lives up to it. This cocktail blends the depth of aged bourbon with the brightness of lemon, the silkiness of honey, and the delicate sweetness of apricot liqueur. Two dashes of orange bitters tie it all together, creating a glass that feels both refined and inviting.
It’s the kind of cocktail that bridges worlds — the warmth of Kentucky oak and the sophistication of French oak, the comfort of home and the allure of a lounge.
His Take: A bourbon cocktail that manages to be both bold and graceful — like a handshake in velvet gloves.
Her Take: It’s sunshine meeting oak — fresh, floral, and quietly luxurious.
The Good Life: This is what happens when craftsmanship meets creativity: a drink that feels like celebration in a glass.
