EXPLORING THE WORLD SINCE 1818
Heering was founded in 1818 by Peter F. Heering, a young businessman trading colonial goods in the Copenhagen harbour. He saw potential in this old cherry liqueur recipe he got from his former boss’s wife. Over time “Heering cherry liqueur” became a staple on the cargo ships leaving to ports all around the world. From Calcutta to Madras, from Shanghai to Jakarta —Heering quickly gained popularity all around the globe.

We first met it at the Ledges Mixology Class in August 2026, during a lesson on the Blood and Sand. The cocktail was the star of the night — deep, balanced, and unexpectedly elegant. When Joey, our bartender-teacher, handed me a tiny sip of the Cherry Heering on its own, I knew immediately: this was going on our shopping list. Fruity liqueurs are my weakness, and this one had that “oh… hello” moment. Next trip to Total Wine? Into the cart it went.

Cherry Heering hits me right where nostalgia and craftsmanship meet. I’m a sucker for a bottle with history, and this one has been around since 1818 — long enough to know exactly what it’s doing. The flavor is bold without being syrupy, cherry-forward but not childish. It’s the kind of liqueur that makes a cocktail feel intentional. When I tasted it again at home, it reminded me why the Blood and Sand worked so well: this bottle doesn’t just play a supporting role; it anchors the whole thing. It’s confident. It’s classic.
