How We Feel About the Spirit
Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Añejo — His, Hers & The Good Life Review
Joint Introduction
Some bottles enter your life quietly. Others arrive because a Total Wine specialist in Nashville looks at you with the confidence of someone who knows your taste better than you do and says, “Trust me — this is the one.” That’s how we met Mi Familia Flores Cristalino Reposado, the tequila that quickly became one of our Sipping Room favorites.
Smooth, silky, sweet‑leaning, and shockingly good for the price, it became the bottle everyone photographed, asked about, and asked us to pick up for them when we were at Total Wine.
Naturally, once we fell in love with the Cristalino, we had to explore the rest of the family. That curiosity led us to the Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Añejo — the richer, deeper, more mature sibling. And like everything in our His & Hers world, we approached it from two different angles: his palate, her palate, and the shared good life in between.
His Take (Jeff)
Coming off the Cristalino Reposado, I was excited to see what the Reserva Suprema Añejo brought to the table. Right away, the nose told me this was a different experience — warmer, richer, and layered with spice.
I get a creamy undertone that feels almost dessert‑adjacent without ever becoming sweet. There’s warm spice, a little pepper, and a buttery mouthfeel that coats the palate in a way that makes you slow down and appreciate it. This is a tequila that asks you to sit with it.
Where the Cristalino is bright and silky, the Añejo is deeper and more contemplative. It paired beautifully with the Rocky Patel Catch 22 cigar, pulling forward the cigar’s cocoa and spice while smoothing the edges.
Her Take (Nancy Fae)
Since the Cristalino Reposado is one of my favorite bottles we own, I was curious whether the Reserva Suprema Añejo would hit the same sweet‑forward notes I love. The moment I smelled it, I knew this was its own thing — fruitier, deeper, and more complex.
On the nose, I get bright, juicy fruit — grapes, apples, orchard sweetness that makes me instantly happy. My first sip had a little heat, but the fruit still came through. By the second sip, the heat mellowed and the fruit lingered beautifully. It’s smooth, silky, and layered in a way that makes you want to keep exploring it.
Where the Cristalino is playful and sweet, the Añejo is elegant and mature. It feels like the “evening version” of the tequila I already love.
His & Her Pairing Notes
We paired this tequila with a cigar — the Rocky Patel Catch 22 — and it created a surprisingly harmonious experience.
His: The buttery, creamy notes in the Añejo amplified the cigar’s own buttery undertones. The tequila’s spice pulled forward the cigar’s spice, creating a balanced back‑and‑forth.
Hers: The fruitiness softened the cigar’s edges and added a silky mouthfeel. Even when the cigar leaned earthy or spicy, the tequila brought balance and elegance.
Together, the pairing felt intentional — like they were meant to sit together.
Joint Summary
Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Añejo is the natural next step after falling in love with the Cristalino Reposado — and it absolutely earns its place on the shelf.
His experience leans creamy, buttery, and warm.
Hers leans fruity, silky, and sweet‑forward.
Together, it’s a tequila that feels celebratory without needing an occasion. It’s not just a tequila — it’s part of the good life we’re building, one pour at a time.

How to Best Enjoy Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Añejo Tequila
1. Sip it neat (the bottle was built for this)
This tequila has enough depth — fruit, butter, warm spice — that chilling or mixing would mute the layers. Neat lets the body and finish open naturally.
Room temperature is ideal.
A small tulip glass or Glencairn concentrates the fruit and spice.
Let it sit for a moment after pouring; the aroma blooms.
2. Take your time with the nose
This is where the magic starts.
She gets grapes, apples, orchard fruit.
He gets warm spice, creaminess, and subtle pepper.
Let the aroma guide the first sip — it sets the tone.
3. Sip in stages
This tequila evolves:
First sip: A touch of heat, fruit peeking through.
Second sip: Heat softens, fruit and butter emerge.
Third sip: Silky, rounded, layered — the full personality shows up.
This is a spirit that rewards patience.
4. Pair it thoughtfully (and lightly)
You’ve only paired it with one cigar — the Rocky Patel Catch 22 — and it worked beautifully.
The tequila’s fruit + butter smoothed the cigar’s spice.
The cigar’s cocoa + earth pulled forward the tequila’s warmth.
It’s a pairing worth repeating, but this tequila doesn’t need a cigar to shine.
5. Enjoy it in a setting that matches its vibe
This is a contemplative, end‑of‑day tequila. It thrives in:
The Sipping Room
The lake porch
A quiet evening with good company
A moment where you want to savor, not rush
It’s not a party tequila. It’s a presence tequila.
6. Skip the mixers
This bottle is too elegant to hide behind citrus or soda. If someone asks for a margarita with it… politely hand them something else.
7. Optional: A single drop of water
Not ice — water.
A drop or two can open the fruit notes even more, especially for those who prefer a softer sip. But it’s optional, not required.
The Takeaway
Mi Familia Flores Reserva Suprema Añejo is best enjoyed:
Neat
Slowly
With intention
In a quiet, comfortable setting
Possibly with a cigar, but only if you want to elevate the moment
It’s a tequila that invites you to pause — and rewards you when you do.
