Hers, Hers & the Good Life: A Mother–Daughter Night at Niffer’s Place in Auburn

There’s something special about slipping into Auburn for a Hers, Hers & the Good Life moment — just me and my girl, Ashley — no Jeff this time, which meant we were fully leaning into mother–daughter mischief. Anytime I get to spend an evening with Ashley in her college world, I feel like I’m getting a little window into her everyday life, her favorite haunts, and the places that make Auburn feel like home. This visit led us straight to one of her beloved local institutions: Niffer’s Place. And let me tell you… the minute we pulled up, I knew we were in for a night of good food, good laughs, and that signature Auburn charm.

Her Take – Ashley
I’ve been wanting to bring Mom to Niffer’s Place forever. It’s one of those Auburn staples — the kind of spot everyone knows, everyone loves, and everyone ends up at eventually. Niffer’s has been around since 1991, which basically makes it part of Auburn’s DNA. The vibe is fun, the team is friendly, and the food hits exactly the way you want comfort food to hit. I knew Mom would love the quirky décor, the energy, and the menu that reads like a greatest hits album of all things delicious. Plus, introducing her to places that feel like “my Auburn” is one of my favorite things.

Walking into Niffer’s Place felt like stepping into a warm hug — the kind of down‑home spot where the walls have stories and the people behind the counter greet you like you’ve been coming there for years. Ashley was right: the team was wonderful. Our waiter, Max, was an absolute delight — an Auburn student studying Accounting, sharp as a tack, and genuinely kind. He made the whole experience feel personal.
Ashley and I kicked things off with a cocktail called the Southern Lady, and let me tell you… she may have a sweet smile, but she does not play around. Southern Comfort, Amaretto, peach purée, cranberry, orange juice, pineapple — all dressed up and ready to stir up some trouble. It was fruity, bold, and exactly the kind of drink that makes you lean back in your chair and say, “Well hello there.”
For dinner, I went straight for the Chicken Parm Sandwich — one of Niffer’s Signature Sandwiches — and oh my goodness. Fried chicken breast, marinara, mozzarella, parmesan, all tucked between toasted garlic bread. Add sweet potato fries on the side and you’ve got a plate that makes you close your eyes for a second just to appreciate the moment. I would absolutely order it again. In fact, I’m already thinking about it.
