About the Cocktail
Blood and Sand is a cocktail with drama — rich cherry warmth, bright citrus, and a whisper of smoky Scotch. We first tasted it during our August 2026 Ledges Mixology “Barrel & Glass” Class, where Joey explained its mysterious origins tied loosely to a silent-era film. It arrived in the glass like a story waiting to be told.
His Take:
Jeff crowned it the standout drink of the night. The Cherry Heering added amaretto-like depth, the orange juice brightened everything, and the dash of Laphroaig brought smoky magic.
Her Take:
I agreed completely. Cherry Heering was new to us, and now I’m determined to add it to our Sipping Room collection. The cocktail was layered, delicious, and memorable.

The Cocktail Recipe

Blood and Sand
1 cocktail | prep time: 6 min
INGREDIENTS
¾ oz Blended Scotch
¾ oz Cherry Heering
¾ oz Sweet Vermouth
1 oz Orange Juice
Orange Peel
Optional: Dash of Peated Single Malt Whisky
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake hard with ice for 12–15 seconds.
Strain into a coupe or martini glass.
Express an orange peel over the cocktail and discard.
