Introduction
Some bottles don’t just join a collection — they anchor it. When Jeff and I started shaping the Sipping Room, we knew our gin shelf needed a timeless representative, something unmistakably “gin” in both reputation and presence. Bombay Sapphire, with its vibrant blue bottles and elegant lines, felt like the natural choice. We picked up the 50 ml, 375 ml, and 750 ml sizes — partly for the aesthetic, partly for the symbolism.
Neither of us are gin drinkers (I’m especially slow to warm up to gin’s sharp personality), so we haven’t opened them yet. But there’s a quiet thrill in knowing that one day, we’ll line up a blind tasting and finally learn what makes gins different from one another. For now, the bottles sit proudly, adding a pop of color and a whisper of London dry tradition to the Sipping Room.

Bombay Sapphire is one of those bottles that feels like it belongs in any serious spirits collection. Even if gin isn’t my go-to, I appreciate its legacy. The blue glass is iconic — clean, crisp, and confident. It’s the kind of bottle that tells you, “I’ve been around the block, and I know what I’m doing.” I like that we have the trio of sizes; it makes the shelf look intentional, curated. One day, I’ll crack one open and see what all the fuss is about. For now, I’m content knowing our gin shelf has its classic cornerstone.

Gin and I are still acquaintances, not friends. I’m new at identifying flavor notes, and gin’s botanical punch can feel like a lot. But Bombay Sapphire’s bottle? I’m actually looking forward to a blind tasting because it feels like a safe way to learn. No pressure, no expectations — just curiosity. Maybe I’ll surprise myself and find notes I enjoy.
