About This Spirit from Glenmorangie

Glenmorangie Signet

Mocha Re-Imagined

ABV: 46.0%

As Dr Bill, our freethinking Director of Whisky Creation, enjoyed a cup of his favourite Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee, the notion of Signet first came to him. At once his mind filled with spiralling mocha flavours that he could not forget.

It would take him years to bring our unprecedented whisky to life. But in its tiramisu tones and melting chocolate, you can taste his most delicious imaginings.

Signet begins with our precious chocolate malt spirit, made just once a year in our giraffe-high stills. Its espresso-like intensity fills our Distillery with aromas more familiar in an Italian coffee bar.

Over the years, we temper its power with rare and treasured casks. Bourbon for creaminess. Sherry for sweetness. The spice of virgin charred oak. All balanced by some of the oldest whisky we own.

The result? A velvet explosion of flavour. Bursts of bitter mocha, sizzling spice and waves of dark chocolate, mellowed by smooth butterscotch. Whisky, as you have never tasted it before.

About This Spirit from the Whisky Advocate

Glenmorangie Signet

94 Score, 46% ABV

Price: $260.00 ● Issue: Summer 2024 ● Reviewer: David Fleming ● Category: Single Malt Scotch

Aromas of musty oak, old library books, broiled peaches, ladyfinger cookies, and a hint of tobacco on a mellow nose. The palate offer bitter chocolate, but also sweet flavors of warm peach tart, crème brûlée, and lemon pie, with a dash of jalapeño pepper spice. The finish is very long, offering vanilla custard sprinkled with chocolate flakes and cinnamon. Very well-integrated with deep, layered flavor creating a sublime whisky.

How We Feel About the Spirit

Glenmorangie Signet Review: The Mocha-Laced Highland Masterpiece Your Top Shelf Deserves

Written by Nancy Fae for His, Hers & the Good Life

Introduction

Some bottles don’t just join a collection — they crown it. When we began curating our Sipping Room, we wanted whiskies that represented the full spectrum of craftsmanship, character, and indulgence. Glenmorangie Signet, with its 94-point acclaim and whispers of mocha, crème brûlée, and espresso intensity, was one of those rare finds that stopped us in our tracks.

We discovered it at our local Class Six, where the price tag made us circle the aisles like two strategists weighing a delicious but daring move. Eventually, Signet earned its place in the cart — and later, on the top shelf, where it has quietly radiated luxury ever since.

We’ve opened it, shared it, and watched discerning friends pause mid-sip with that unmistakable “oh wow” expression. Signet is not just a whisky. It’s an experience.

His Take (Jeff)

Signet feels like the whisky equivalent of a tailored suit: bold, confident, and unmistakably refined. The first pour hits with that espresso-like richness Glenmorangie is known for, but this one goes deeper — dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and a velvety warmth that settles in like a fireside evening.

I appreciate whiskies that don’t rush the moment, and Signet’s long, spicy finish practically insists you slow down. It’s the kind of bottle you bring out when you want to impress someone who truly understands whisky or when you want to treat yourself to something extraordinary.

Her Take (Nancy Fae)

Signet is a sensory indulgence from the moment the cork lifts. The aroma alone — espresso, chocolate sponge cake, hazelnut cream — feels like stepping into a European café. On the palate, it’s decadent without being heavy: chocolate truffles, toffee, treacle, and that gorgeous Turkish coffee note that lingers like a memory you don’t want to let go.

It’s elegant, expressive, and unapologetically luxurious. For me, Signet is the kind of whisky that elevates a quiet evening into something special. It’s a bottle that reminds you why collecting isn’t just about owning — it’s about savoring.

Closing in the His, Hers & the Good Life Style

His (Jeff)

Signet earns its place on the top shelf. It’s bold, complex, and deeply satisfying — everything I want in a special-occasion pour.

Her (Nancy Fae)

This bottle feels like a celebration every time we open it. Rich, warm, and beautifully layered, Signet is a whisky that speaks to the heart as much as the palate.

The Good Life

Glenmorangie Signet fits our Good Life because it embodies what we value most: craftsmanship, shared moments, and the joy of discovering something truly exceptional. It’s a bottle that brings people together — and leaves them smiling.

How to Enjoy

Glenmorangie recommends savoring Signet neat to appreciate its full espresso-chocolate complexity. The whisky’s velvety texture and deep mocha notes shine brightest when enjoyed slowly, allowing the layers of citrus, roasted coffee, and creamy toffee to unfold.

For a slightly softened experience, enjoy it with one or two large ice cubes, letting the chill coax out the sweeter notes of milk chocolate and orange zest.

Pair it with dark chocolate, tiramisu, or a quiet evening worthy of its richness.
