Riviera Nights at Cooper’s Hawk: A Glamorous, Playful French Riviera Wine Club Dinner (August 2026)

Written by Nancy Fae for His, Hers & the Good Life

Introduction

Some evenings arrive with fanfare, and others simply glide in — the kind that feel like a warm breeze slipping through an open terrace in Saint‑Tropez. Our August Cooper’s Hawk Wine Club Dinner, “Riviera Nights,” was exactly that kind of evening. From the moment we stepped into the shimmering black‑and‑silver glow of the dining room, drink already in hand (because Cooper’s Hawk understands priorities), the night felt effortlessly glamorous.

This was Madison’s fourth members‑only dinner, and by now, these gatherings have become a cherished part of our monthly rhythm — a place where familiar faces greet each other like old friends, new guests are welcomed with genuine warmth, and the Cooper’s Hawk team continues to refine the experience with each event.

About the Event

Cooper’s Hawk hosts monthly members‑only Wine Club Dinners, each themed, curated, and crafted to whisk guests away to a different corner of the world. For August 2026, they presented “Riviera Nights.”

Escape to the sun-drenched glamour of the French Riviera circa 1960. This elegant evening channels the effortless chic of Saint-Tropez with Provence-inspired cuisine, our crisp Blanc de Noirs, and a black-and-white dress code that would make Brigitte Bardot proud.

The room shimmered in black, silver, and crystal — a monochrome palette that felt both modern and timeless. It was elegant in a way that didn’t need to announce itself. It simply was.

How the Evening Unfolded

We were greeted immediately with the Tropézienne Spritz, a rosy, citrus‑layered cocktail that sparkled like sea air. Cooper’s Hawk has made this a signature welcome — drink first, questions later — and honestly, I support this tradition wholeheartedly. There’s something about starting an evening with a chilled glass in hand that sets the tone just right. This one, with its delicate blossom notes and Côte d’Azur charm, was Jeff’s favorite of the night. He bonded with it instantly.

Our Good Friends: Dean and Stacie Della Pella

We were seated with Madison’s General Manager, Rebecca, and our good friends Dean and Stacie Della Pella. Rebecca opened the evening with warmth, recognizing familiar faces and welcoming newcomers. She introduced her team — the people who make these dinners feel personal, polished, and thoughtfully orchestrated:

  • Chef Danielle

  • Trish (desserts)

  • Ernie (Trish’s husband, kitchen support)

  • The stealthy kitchen team member who remained hidden

  • Bailey (event coordinator extraordinaire)

  • Service Team: Brittany, Caleb, Eliza, Heather

I always appreciate acknowledging the team. They’re the heartbeat of these dinners.

And let me say — the pacing of the evening was noticeably smoother. After one earlier dinner didn’t go quite as planned, the team made a concerted effort to refine the experience. The improvements were clear, appreciated, and absolutely worth applauding.

The Menu

Start with Tropézienne Spritz

Rosé layered with citrus and delicate blossom, finished with a sparkle that feels like sea air drifting through an open terrace.

Our Impressions:   The kind of cocktail that makes you feel like you should be wearing oversized sunglasses and casually ignoring paparazzi. Light, floral, and effortlessly glamorous. Jeff adored it.

Bread Course

Sea Salt Crackers

Lemon Whipped Goat Cheese, Roasted Garlic Oil

Our Impressions:   A minimalist course with quiet confidence. The crackers were simple, yes — but the lemon whipped goat cheese and roasted garlic oil arrived like they had been personally invited by the French Riviera’s elite. A reminder that even humble beginnings can be dressed up beautifully.

First Course

Soupe au Pistou & Pissaladière Duo

Summer Vegetable Soup & Caramelized Onion Tart

Valbreso Feta, Baby Arugula, Basil Oil

Wine Pairing: Blanc de Noirs

Our Impressions:   This course didn’t just shine — it glowed. The soup was rich and comforting, the onion tart was elegantly savory, and together they felt like a culinary duet performed on a candlelit terrace. The Blanc de Noirs pairing elevated everything. Alone it was lovely; with the soup it became a full‑blown love affair.

  • Soupe au Pistou & Pissaladière Duo

Second Course

Lobster, Scallop, Crab & Shrimp Bouillabaisse

Saffron-Fennel Broth, Sweet Onions, Fingerling Potatoes Served with Grilled Sourdough & Roasted Red Pepper Rouille

Wine Pairing: Rosé

Our Impressions:   A bouillabaisse that whispered luxury with every bite. Tender seafood, fragrant saffron, and a broth that tasted like it had been simmered by someone who takes great pride in their craft. The rosé pairing was chic and refreshing. Jeff announced he could have eaten a portion “three times larger,” which is his highest form of praise.

  • Wine Pairing: Rosé
  • Lobster, Scallop, Crab & Shrimp Bouillabaisse

Third Course

Crème de Citron Cake

Provençal Lemon Custard, Macerated Strawberries, Vanilla Cream

Wine Pairing: Strawberry Rhubarb Spritzy Sangria

Our Impressions:   A dessert with undeniable star power. Bright lemon custard, silky vanilla cream, and strawberries that tasted like they had been hand‑selected at dawn in Provence. The spritzy sangria pairing added a playful sparkle — the kind of flourish that makes you think, “Yes, this is exactly how dessert should feel.”

The Game & Prizes

The quiz of the night had a Mediterranean theme — and let’s just say, without Google, we were humbled. We didn’t win, but that’s alright. Dean won the grand prize last month, and we’ve won bottles in previous events thanks to Ashley’s quick thinking. Sharing the wealth keeps it fun.

Overall, the evening was another success. Cooper’s Hawk continues to refine these dinners, and the improvements show. I look forward to them every month.

His Take (Jeff)

There’s something about a well‑executed theme that pulls you in, and Riviera Nights did exactly that. The Tropézienne Spritz was my standout — refreshing, balanced, and the kind of drink you could enjoy on a balcony overlooking the Mediterranean. The seafood course was excellent, and the pacing of the evening felt smooth and intentional. Great food, great wine, great company — that’s my kind of night.

Her Take (Nancy Fae)

For me, Riviera Nights felt like stepping into a monochrome dream — elegant, coastal, and beautifully curated. The first course stole my heart, but that Crème de Citron Cake was a close second. I loved the attention to detail: the dress code, the sparkling décor, the thoughtful pacing, and the warmth from Rebecca and her team. These dinners have become a highlight of my month, a place where good food meets good people and good memories. I left already excited for September.

Closing in the His, Hers & the Good Life Style

His (Jeff)

Another night well spent. Cooper’s Hawk delivered a polished, flavorful experience that made the theme come alive. I’m already looking forward to the next one.

Her (Nancy Fae)

Riviera Nights was a beautiful blend of elegance, flavor, and friendship. It reminded me why these dinners matter. They’re not just meals. They’re moments.

The Good Life

The Good Life is built one shared experience at a time — a sparkling spritz, a perfectly paired soup, a table full of friends, and a night that unfolds effortlessly. Riviera Nights fit right in.
