WhistlePig began when a ragged band of Rye enthusiasts dared to set forth beyond the bounds of past or possibility. In pursuit of independence, innovation – and ingredients – we landed upon an abandoned dairy barn in the heart of Vermont farm country.
FarmStock Beyond Bonded Rye Whiskey is our boldest dream yet: a tribute to the hearty, heirloom crop at its core. Farmed in our own backyard, distilled and proofed with our own well water, and aged in our own sustainably-harvested Vermont oak, each individual barrel is an untapped expression of the WhistlePig Farm.
Beyond Bonded FarmStock Rye is a Straight Rye Whiskey crafted from grain-to-glass at the WhistlePig Farm and Distillery.
Our bonded whiskey is made with 100% Danko Rye. Each single barrel is aged at least 4 years and 29 days, and up to 4 years, 6 months and 17 days in Vermont Estate Oak barrels. Bottled by hand in March 2024 at 100 proof.

For us, WhistlePig’s FarmStock Rye Beyond Bonded Straight Rye Whiskey was one of those rare finds that stops you in your tracks, even when you’re just wandering the aisles of Total Wine in Orlando, Florida. As longtime superfans of WhistlePig, we’ve learned to trust our instincts: when a limited bottle appears, you don’t hesitate. You bring it home.
And that’s exactly what we did.

100% Danko Rye, grown on WhistlePig’s own land

Though our bottle remains sealed—and will stay that way for now—WhistlePig describes Beyond Bonded Rye as:

Our WhistlePig journey has been one of steady devotion—PiggyBack 6 Year, the 10 Year, the 12 Year, the 15 Year Estate Oak Rye, Boss Hog releases, and even the whimsical PiggyBank Rye. Each bottle marks a moment, a memory, or a milestone.

How We May Enjoy It — Someday
Part of the magic of collecting WhistlePig is imagining the moment when a bottle finally earns its cork pull. Even though our FarmStock Rye Beyond Bonded will stay sealed for now, we already know the kind of experience it deserves when its time eventually comes.
If we were to open it, we’d begin the way we always do with a meaningful rye: neat, in a proper glass, with a quiet moment to appreciate the aroma before the first sip ever touches the palate. A whiskey born entirely on WhistlePig’s own farm deserves that kind of ceremony — a slow introduction, a chance to reveal its layers of vanilla, oak, spice, and the unmistakable character of Danko rye.
From there, we’d likely explore it with a single drop or two of water, just enough to coax out the softer notes WhistlePig describes — the crème brûlée, the rose petals, the gentle sweetness tucked beneath the spice. Water has a way of opening up a bonded rye, letting it stretch and breathe.
A third tasting would be on one large ice rock, not to chill it into submission but to let time and temperature shift the experience. As the ice melts, the whiskey evolves, and that slow transformation is part of the pleasure.
What we won’t do — at least not with this bottle — is mix it into a cocktail. FarmStock Beyond Bonded is a single-barrel, grain-to-glass expression of WhistlePig’s farm. It feels like a whiskey meant to be appreciated in its purest form, not shaken or stirred into something else.
But all of this remains hypothetical for now. The bottle sits proudly in our Sipping Room, unopened and unhurried, a reminder that anticipation can be just as satisfying as the pour itself. One day we may enjoy it exactly this way — neat, then with water, then on a rock — but for now, the ritual lives in our imagination, and that’s a pleasure all its own.
